Maladjusted

January 21, 1960
This was the message from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
to many students and faculty on the local college campus
50 years ago.
"I never intend to adjust myself to the evils of segregation and discrimination..." stated King.

What evils are there in our world today that we, as Christians,
should not adjust to?

One such maladjustment of today's Christian
should be toward abortion. King's niece, Dr. Alveda King, properly titles
abortion as the new civil Rights cause.

"If we're not speaking for the voiceless,
not being strong for those who are weak,
we're not living Martin's dream," she says.

May that which breaks the heart of God, break yours.

Food For the New

Is that you?
Are you one of the new?

If you have come alongside the
family at Newton Christian to glorify God
this past year...
we want to feed you!

A get to know your new family chili luncheon
next Sunday Jan 24th after service.
You can stay in the same building,
wear the same clothes,
use the same hands you just prayed with,
and eat with us!
Our treat!

Sandwiches provided for the children,
if they frown upon chili.
If not, DIG IN,
as all ages of brothers and sisters encouraged
to join us.

What Time Is It?

You heard Pastor Doug right... it's time to
Connect 2010!
No rhymes.
No rhetoric.
No rhythm.
These words to live by this next blessed year
are straight to the point:
Get Connected!

To God.
To Family.
To a local church.

Come join us if He's pointing you in our direction.
We've been praying you'd come!
Your brothers and sisters await your arrival.

We at Newton Christian Church desire to be a model of the New Testament Church
as in the book of Acts.
Come join us as we seek to develop . . .
Families of Faith ...
Homes of Hope ...
Acts of Love.

And times of togetherness along the way!

Where Were You?

We were hoping to see you
for the Annual Meeting this past Sunday!

You missed great food...
great fellowship...
great news about the new building!

Unfortunately, the kids won't wait forever...
so the food is gone.
But the fellowship and new building
will be awaiting your next visit to
210 Southport Drive!

We Gathered

Beginning our Soup & Song Supper with an art project,
Doug instructed one and all present on how to construct
a star for the blessing tree.

All hands, big and little, began cutting, writing and folding!

Each finishing their star with the name of a blessing...

on the tree they went! Hanging each with care, the blessing tree was complete!

T.E.A.

Cold outside?

Get the tea kettle a brewin'!
Sure, you can drink your sermon notes...
Just keep the wrapper in a safe place!

Doug delivered his gift to everyone
during last Sunday's teaching: a tea bag.

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.
Nancy Reagan

Suggesting that this is true for all humans, not only women, each was instructed to jot down the acrostic on the wrapper to remind us to keep our heads cool when in hot water.

T- Trust our Heavenly Father
E- Every word
A-Amen

We know that it's not if the hot water is coming, but when!
Let your faith prepare you.

Gospel Fuzzies

Children's Ministry

What is black allover?
Has 5 heads each of their own color...
And only moves when a lil' hand created by God enters in?

A Gospel Fuzzy, of course!

Sing with the children, now...

We're the Gospel Fuzzies,
We're the Gospel Fuzzies,
We're the Gospel Fuzzies
we've a sing to sing!

Gold stands for Heaven,
Gold stands for Heaven,
Gold stands for Heaven
where I want to go!

Dark means I'm a sinner,
Dark means I'm a sinner,
Dark means I'm a sinner
and I can't get in!

Red means Jesus died,
Red means Jesus died,
Red means Jesus died
and He rose again!

Clean means I'm forgiven,
Clean means I'm forgiven,
Clean means I'm forgiven
when I follow Him!

Green means I'm Growing,
Green means I'm Growing,
Green means I'm Growing
when I trust in Him!
